RESERVIST MAY QUALIFY FOR EARLY RETIREMENT

12/11/2008 - ROBINS AIR FORCE BASE, Ga. (AFNS) -- Department of Defense officials here have issued

new guidelines for early receipt of retired pay for members of the Reserve components.

Instead of having to wait until age 60 to receive Reserve retired pay, eligible members may receive retired pay prior to age 60 but not before age 50.

Under interim changes to Department of Defense Instruction 1215.07, Service Credit for Reserve Retirement, issued under a law passed by Congress effective Jan. 28, 2008, Reserve component members are able to reduce the age at which they are eligible to receive retirement pay by three months for each cumulative period of 90 days served on active duty in any fiscal year.

A word from your President: Ethan Toyama

Aloha HNGEA Members,

It is a great time to be a part of this wonderful association. The Hawaii delegation has just returned from the 2007 EANGUS National Convention. We all look forward to sharing valuable information as well as experiences gained with all of you. Plans are underway to host the 2008 HNGEA General Membership Meeting on October 25, 2008. The Time and Place Committee has been working diligently to get a central site that will be accessible to all members. Get involved and contact Committee Chair Chris Fabriga at (808)448-7780 or email him at christopher.fabriga@hihick.ang.af.mil  to assist with program, decorations and registration sub-committees.

Ask not what your HNGEA has done for you, but what can YOU do for your HNGEA.

Ethan T. Toyama President, HNGEA
